A makeshift clothes stall on the pavement of a busy road in Kochi, where pant and shirt pieces are sold at very low prices. Kerala is fast becoming an attractive market for small-time traders of garments from outside the State. The clothes are procured mainly from mills in Surat and other North Indian cities. Though the Onam season is near, traders say the prolonged monsoon has been a dampener.
