Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Warangal District Consumer Forum dismissed a complaint filed against Coca-Cola Company by Mr Kiran, a consumer belonging to Mahabubabad in the district.

The complainant claimed in his petition that he had bought a bottle of Thums Up from a retailer in Mahabubabad that contained some foreign particles causing him mental agony. He sought a compensation of Rs 50,000 from Coca-Cola.

In its submissions to the forum, Coca-Cola stated that it was impossible for any foreign matter to be present in the beverages as they were manufactured with utmost care using modern bottling equipment.

According to a Coca-Cola press release here on Friday, the forum upheld the company's contention and observed it was impossible for any foreign matter to be present in the soft drink unless it has been tampered with. The forum dismissed the petition and ordered the complainant to pay Rs 2,000 towards cost to the company.
