GSK Pharma India MD to oversee Lanka, Bangladesh

Mumbai , July 31

THE Managing Director of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals (GSK) in India, Mr S. Kalyanasundaram, has been given additional charge of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka with immediate effect.

According to an official communiqué, the company's General Managers in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will now report to Mr Kalyanasundaram, who will continue to be based in Mumbai.

Mr V. Thyagarajan, Senior Vice-President and Area Director, Asia Pacific, said: "The three South Asian markets present exciting opportunities for business development and the future introduction of innovative and speciality medicine following the re-introduction of product patent protection in India in 2005."

Mr Kalyanasundaram was appointed as Managing Director in India on January 1, 2003.
