Oxemberg proposes exclusive showrooms in South, West

Sindhu J. Bhattacharya

New Delhi , Aug 2

SIYARAM Poddar Group's clothing division Oxemberg has decided to invest Rs 5 crore over the next two years in technical upgradation and expansion of production facilities.

The investment in manufacturing upgradation will go hand-in-hand with the company's initiatives to expand its retail presence.

Oxemberg, which is more than a decade old, is sold through 10 exclusive outlets and 1,100 other multi-brand ones.

The General Manager Marketing, Mr Prasad Shetty, said "Oxemberg has a strong presence in the southern and western Indian market and it entered the north Indian market last year. We are planning to set up Oxemberg exclusive showrooms in the South and West zone. Currently we have 10 exclusive showrooms and intend to plan 20 more by the year 2006. Across the country, we are available in 1100 retail outlets."

Mr Shetty said the Rs 5 crore investment will be financed through internal accruals and will be used to scale up production quality. The company at present has a plant at Andheri (East) in Mumbai. It has production capacity of 60,000 pieces of shirts, 20,000 jeans and 30,000 trousers per month.

He said Oxemberg is currently exporting to markets in Germany, UK, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, West Asia and Sri Lanka.
