TNT unveils spare parts replenishment service

Bangalore , Aug 3

TNT India has launched a value-added service (VAS) that seeks to meet the special needs of its customers looking for quick replenishment of time-critical spare parts or replacement of equipment. The service will be an extended line of TNT's express courier service.

VAS is a concept selling process, which includes customising the approach to the entire gamut of understanding of customer's business and identifying the need, designing solutions with innovative and practical applications. Of course, pricing is also an important factor.

"As India makes a dent in global service businesses, becoming a fulfilment centre for varied requirements across the globe, value-added requirements are born. This has taken place already in the identified market segments and the need is growing at a fast rate," said Mr Sujoy Guha, Country Operations Director. TNT would be finalising agreements with a few companies soon and has decided to focus on three select segments including the automotive and hi-tech sectors and certain niche markets, said Mr Abhik Mitra, Managing Director of TNT India.

Under VAS, TNT will cover three important segments like break bulk, repair and return and `Storapart' services, whose key features would be speed, services parts inventory management and 24/7 service to meet time-sensitive deliveries, he added.

The break bulk service provides an integrated door-to-door distribution solution for large manufacturers who require a single-point Customs clearance with direct distribution to multiple customer bases along with end-to-end control and visibility of their products services.

The repair and return service is a one-stop solution that reduces the need to depend on multiple service providers and focuses on electronics and hi-tech industries. It also provides warehousing and Customs clearance.
