Railways Spl trains for Krishna Pushkarams Our Bureau
HYDERABAD: The South Central Railway (SCR) will run 200 special trains during the upcoming Krishna Pushkarams to ease traffic. "Most of these would connect Vijayawada with Rajahmundry, Gudiwada, Ongole and Guntur. This is because most of the pilgrims are expected to come from places within a radius of 100 km," Mr K. Rosaiah, Minister for Finance and Planning, said here in a press release here. In addition, the SCR would tag on additional coaches to express and passenger trains from far-off places. The decision was taken following a review meeting held by Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, the Chief Minister, with Railway officials. Besides, the Vijayawada station would get a facelift. Three new platforms, a new entry, booking counters and enquiry kiosks would come up.
