Anguish of alienation

It is disturbing that successive governments have done little to prevent the alienation felt by the Manipuris. The article "Anguish of an alienated people" (Business Line, August 4), highlights areas for further action: the disadvantaged situation of women in society, which makes vulnerable, not only to physical abuse, but also to be trapped in trafficking and drug-peddling.

Continued neglect by New Delhi increase these peoples' sense of alienation, creating fertile ground for secessionist tendencies.
