Airlines Delhi, Mumbai airports revamp IMG asks consultant to firm up norms to shortlist bidders Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug 4 THE Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG), looking into the proposed restructuring and modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports, on Wednesday asked the financial consultants, ABN-Amro, to firm up the parameters for short-listing of the prospective bidders for the two metro airports. Official sources, while refusing to divulge as to what transpired at the meeting, indicated that the management skills of the consortiums in running of an airport as also the fee which they propose to pay are likely to be among the criterion which would be considered while short-listing the successful bidders. Besides, the global ranking of the airports which the bidders are operating are also likely to be taken into consideration while deciding on which parties qualify for the next round of bidding. Sources were categorical in stating that as yet, no ranking have been given to the 10 bids received by the Government. Sources said that the financial consultants were likely to apprise the IMG of the bidders who meet the criterion and, therefore, qualify for the next round by August 12. It is only after that the IMG will forward the recommendations to the Ministry of Civil Aviation so that a meeting of the empowered Group of Ministers (e-GoM) can be held to take the process forward. The four-member e-GoM is headed by the Defence Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, and includes the Ministers for Finance and Civil Aviation, among others. Sources indicated that all efforts would be made to ensure that the e-GoM meets before the Parliament reconvenes on August 16. These apart, the Bharti group, which has tied up with Changi Airport Managers and Partners (Singapore) Pte, also submitted its EoI.
