Chennai , Aug. 5

THE UB Group launched its super-premium whisky, Signature, in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

Addressing the launch, Mr Philip Sargunar, Chief Operating Officer - South, UB Group - Spirits Division, said that McDowell's Signature, from "the top end of the whisky segment" is an exclusive brand manufactured only at four of the 40 locations where the group's brands are bottled.

Claessens International, London, designed the packaging, including the octagonal bottle and the carton. Signature is a blend created out of pure scotch and Indian malts.

Imported scotch - of which about 3,500 cases are consumed in the State, will now face real competition. With Signature "we will make it big" in Tamil Nadu, where the group is targeting a 30-per cent market share. A 180 ml nip will cost Rs 122, pint (375 ml) Rs 246 and a quart (750 ml) Rs 489.
