Grasim's cellulose plant flooded

Our Bureau

MUMBAI: Grasim Industries Ltd has shut down its cellulose plant in Gujarat due to flooding. The company on Thursday informed the BSE that the river Kim, which passes by the company's Birla Cellulosic plant at Kharach in Gujarat, has overflowed and some areas of the plant are flooded. It had shut down operations at the plant since August 4.

The operations will be resumed as soon as the water recedes and plant and machinery are repaired. The suspension of operation is not likely to impact the company's overall profitability, Grasim said in a release.
