New Delhi , Aug. 6 THE country's largest commercial vehicle maker, Tata Motors Ltd on Friday said that it expects the industry's sales to rise by 8-10 per cent in the current fiscal and its own sales to exceed the sector's growth. ``We are aiming to grow market share in the commercial vehicles segment and our growth should be at least a couple of points ahead of the market growth,'' Mr Shyam Mani, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing (commercial vehicles unit), Tata Motors said on Friday. Last year, total commercial vehicle sales stood at 2.56 lakh unit out of which Tata Motors sold 1.53 lakh units. ``We see tremendous growth potential for light and heavy commercial vehicles over medium commercial vehicles in the wake of speedy work on a number of highway projects,'' Mr Mani said, while launching the new LPT 909EX Tata Turbo truck. The new truck is the first offering by Tata Motors in the competitive six-tonne payload segment. Tata Motors has sold 51,000 units so far in the first four months of the fiscal, a growth of about 40 per cent as compared to the same period last year. However, the growth outlook for the industry for the rest of the year is not as robust. Incidentally, the commercial vehicles industry had grown by about 35 per cent last fiscal. Mr Mani also mentioned that the company is making substantial investment towards launching new truck variants that would meet the pollution control norms likely to come into place shortly.
