Our Bureau

Mumbai , Aug. 6

SUN Pharmaceuticals said on Friday that a fire had broken out in one of its three bulk active units in Panoli, early this morning. Four workers were injured and their condition is stable, a company communiqué issued here said.

This unit manufactures intermediates for bulk actives that form the ingredients of a medicine in its finished form.

The cause of the fire is being investigated but may be due to short circuit after heavy rain, the company said, adding that the assessment of the extent of damage would take time. Meanwhile, production at the other two plants is normal, the company spokesperson said.
