Diversification Sahil Resorts plans to enter hospitality segment Our Bureau
Pune, Aug. 5 THE Pune-based Sahil Resorts Agri Fields and Farms Pvt Ltd, is all set to enter the hospitality segment. The company is carrying a pilot project at Alibaug near here. Mr Vinay Phadnis, Chairman and Managing Director of Sahil Resorts, said that the company would be investing about Rs 100 crore over five years. It has already chalked out the tourist destinations to set up resorts. These include Lonavla, Konkan, Goa and Kerala. Mr Phadnissaid the new facility spread over 8 acres, with a four-star rating, is expected to be fully commissioned by December 2005 and would take up an investment of Rs 20 crore. All these investments that are going into this segment would be from the internal accruals, he said. The new location at Alibaug is a 20-minute drive from the high profile Mandva residential area and is an hour's drive from the Special Economic Zone, which is being developed on the 5,000 acre of land between Navi Mumbai and Karnala. Adjoining a natural lake, the resort would house 60 spacious rooms, eight villas and four maharaja suites. The major attraction for the Maharaja suite would be the private water bodies, he said. Special emphasis would be laid on outdoor games and would have facilities such as cricket pitch, basketball pitch and a mini golf course. One of the major highlights of the resort would be its spa, which would provide Ayurvedic treatment . Mr Phadnis said the company has also bought over a budget hotel in Lonavla at a consideration of Rs 2 crore. Currently the agreement has been signed and renovation at the hotel has begun. The hotel, which has 22 rooms, would be open to public in January next.
