Airlines IA posts profit in April-May Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug. 7 THE state-owned Indian Airlines (IA) has recorded a cumulative profit of Rs 5.10 crore during the first two months of fiscal 2004-05 compared to a loss of Rs 45.4 crore during the same period the previous year. During May this year, the airline earned a net profit of Rs 12.05 crore compared to a net loss of Rs 4.30 crore during the same period the previous year. IA has seen a steady increase in the number of passengers during the two months. It carried 11.82 lakh passengers, of whom 5.46 lakh were carried in April and 6.36 lakh in May. During the same period the previous year, it carried 8.94 lakh passengers. Similarly, the cumulative revenue of Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd during the April-June period this year was Rs 47.36 crore compared to Rs 38.44 crore during the previous corresponding period. AI prunes loss: Air India reported a cumulative loss of Rs 45.12 crore during the first two months of the current fiscal compared to a loss of Rs 64.66 crore the previous period. The airline saw an increase in the number of passengers in the first two months at 6,90,401 compared to 5,14,203 during the corresponding previous period.
