Announcements GM reduces Corsa price by Rs 36,000 Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug. 7 GENERAL Motors India on Saturday announced a special promotional price of Rs 4.86 lakh (approximately Rs 36,000 less) on the Opel Corsa notchback model as a festive bonus to customers. "After tasting success with Optra and Tavera, there is now renewed focus on Opel Corsa to provide fillip to further improve Corsa sales. This attractive offer will reposition Corsa below the Rs 5 lakh category making it affordable to young professionals,'' said Mr Aditya Vij, President and Managing Director, General Motors India. Industry officials point out that with the recent Rs 40,000 reduction in the price of Maruti Esteem, rival carmakers had been under pressure to reduce prices and make official the discounts currently on offer on their mid-size segment product. "Although the special price would bring our margins under pressure, this is GM's way of rewarding our valued customer. GM has chosen to bring this about by institutionalisation and rationalisation of sales promotion incentives and passing on the benefit to the customer, " Mr Vij said.
