Puskharams from Aug. 28

HYDERABAD: Nearly three crore people are expected to take a dip at 191 ghats along the River Krishna during the 12-day Puskharams beginning on August 28.

With the once-in-12-years event is just 20 days away, the Government is making arrangements to provide a hassle-free visits to the ghats.

Half of the pilgrims are expected to turn out at the ghats in Vijayawada. The Government allocated Rs 210 crore, 10 per cent more than what the previous Government spent on the Godavari Puskharams last year.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Mr M Satyanarayana Rao, Endowments Minister, and Mr S. Santosh Reddy, Transport Minister, said as many as 202 temples situated on the banks of the river were getting a facelift.

Nearly 4,000 doctors and medical staff and 3,000 swimmers would be deployed.
