Newspapers & Publishing Variety - Events The Hindu MetroPlus Lifestyle Show in Chennai Our Bureau
Chennai , Aug. 8 METROPLUS, the colour supplement from The Hindu Group, will organise a four-day exhibition in the home and lifestyle categories. The Hindu MetroPlus Lifestyle Show 2004, to be held from August 12 to 15 in the city, will showcase the latest technologies, products and brands available in the market and those yet to be launched, said Mr V. Kalidas, Chief Advertisement Manager, The Hindu. This inaugural edition of the exhibition will be held at the Chennai Trade Centre, and is being planned as an annual event. It will bring readers of The Hindu and advertisers together under the same platform. It will have over 250 participants from various categories, including automobiles, furniture and furnishing, arts and handicrafts, electronics, information technology, services and fast moving consumer goods, he said. The lifestyle show will promote retail shopping by offering consumers a huge variety of products at a single place. It will also create awareness of the retailers' and manufacturers' brands and offerings, and build brand equity for the retailer/manufacturer by association with the event, he said. The show's title sponsor is Style Spa Furniture Ltd, a company promoted by the K.K. Birla group. The event manager is iCare Communication, Bangalore and BSNL is the communication partner. Planet Yumm is the food and beverages partner, he said. According to Mr Kalidas, an added attraction in the event is an exhibition of rare pictures from both the freedom struggle and the Olympics from the archives of the The Hindu and The Sportstar, he said.
