BUSINESS schools in India should consider merger options like those in the developed countries to upgrade the quality of education.
Speaking at the All-India Management Association - Centre for Management Education (AIMA-CME) convocation, the Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Mr Arjun Singh said that business schools should strive to create barefoot managers for meeting the manpower requirements of small and medium enterprises .
While the "well-known business schools" cater to the employment requirements of larger enterprises, there is a need to cater to the requirements of SMEs like art and craft exporters and jewellery exporters, he added.
"Mr Singh called for mergers of business schools as it is being done in the developed countries," says an AIMA statement. During the event, post graduate diplomas in management (PGDM) and post graduate diplomas in information technology (PGDIT) were conferred upon 1500 students.
