TTK Prestige to unveil modular kitchens

Sravanthi Challapalli

Chennai , Aug. 9

TTK Prestige Ltd will launch its modular kitchens countrywide by December this year. This will also help the company extend its retail initiative, Smart Kitchen, through which the modules will be sold, to the North and East, said Mr K. G. George, Head (Retail), TTK Prestige.

The company will focus on the value-for-money segment, Mr George told Business Line on the sidelines of a seminar on rural marketing held recently in Bangalore. For instance, its cost for a modular kitchen in an area of 10 ft x 8 ft would be Rs 1 lakh including a chimney and hob; the cheapest branded modular kitchen of that size now costs around Rs 1.50 lakh, he explained.

TTK Prestige will also become the first national player in the modular kitchens market as the others are restricted to certain regions, Mr George said. The company has tied up with Masco Corp of Italy which has a number of kitchen brands in its portfolio.

The company is now taking its Smart Kitchens to the Western part of the country. It is opening 10 outlets next month in various cities including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot. It will open an outlet in Delhi by Diwali and in Kolkata by the end of the year. It is also expanding the number of outlets in Bangalore from seven to 10. So far, there are 23 outlets, all in the South. The aim is to have 100 outlets operating by March 2006.

Smart Kitchens are designed as concept showrooms with a live kitchen and serve as one-stop shops for the entire range of Prestige products.
