Technical talk on patents in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) is hosting a technical talk on `How to obtain and maintain a patent in India' here on Wednesday.
Mr R.S. Praveen Raj, Examiner of Patents and Designs, Patents Office, Chennai Branch, will deliver the speech at 5.45 p.m. at the Amphitheatre of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Thiruvananthapuram.
According to Mr R. Satheesh, Honorary Secretary, Kerala State Centre of IE (I), the speech will cover issues such as the significance of a `patent', its origin and the administration in India, what constitutes an `invention' and whether it is patentable in India, and precautions to be taken before filing a patent, among others.
Co-hosts will be the Kerala Section of the Institute of the Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Thiruvananthapuram Chapter of the Computer Society of India and Thiruvananthapuram branch of the Aeronautical Society of India.
