New Delhi , Aug. 10 TAKING a break from Pop Stars, Channel [V] has decided to embark on yet another talent hunt search called `Super Singer'. This new talent hunt show joins the bandwagon of reality shows to be aired in Sony, Zee and even Sahara TV. However, Mr Amar Deb, Head of Channel [v] claims, "We created the genre, we made it a success and we are now taking it to a new level." He added that the reality show took off in India with the launch of Pop Stars I and II and now the format has only been changed. Instead of a band, this time the quest is for the ultimate singer. The winner will walk away with a recording contract for the release of a music album along with a music video and the opportunity to playback for a leading Bollywood producer. The music channel chief said that the response from the advertisers has also been very good. Samsung has already been signed on as the title sponsor, will the associate sponsors are Marico for its Hair & Care Silk n Shine, HLL's New Liril Orange and Parle. "There are others who have also evinced interest," he added. It has also roped in singer, Adnan Sami, to be the star judge. The auditions for the show will be held in 10 cities across the country and viewers would also get a chance to cast their votes. When queried about the inevitable comparisons with Sony's to-be-launched Indian Idol, which is based on a hugely successful international format, Mr Deb said, that the music channel is the pioneer of reality TV and is today the benchmark for talent hunts.
