New Products & Services APC launches inverters Our Bureau
BANGALORE: American Power Conversion on Tuesday launched power inverters specifically designed for domestic and small establishments to run their basic lighting, television and fans. Specifically designed for India, the pure sine wave inverter could be used to run music systems, home theatre systems or other electronic equipment for over two hours at a stretch. Pure sine is a technology which helps ensure zero humming of lights, overheating of fans, resulting in longer equipment life. The company's Country Manager, Mr Pankaj Sharma, said that the launch of the inverter was part of its endeavour to provide complete power solutions equipment. He added that with frequent power cuts in major metropolises, there was good potential for inverters with full features to both provide alternative power during disruption of supply and protect the appliances. The Indian inverter market is estimated at $140 million across the segments and only 10 per cent of the potential has so far been penetrated, Mr Sharma said. Aesthetically designed APC 800 VA power inverter is packed with multiple features such as child shock-proof, acid-resistant body and battery cabinet, and a built-in `holidaymode' switch to prevent battery discharge when not in use for a long time, said Mr Sharma. The company came out with the product after an extensive consumer survey about the need for such an apparatus and also their preferences on its appearance, features to cope up with the needs of the consumers. The equipment could support power to run five lights and three fans and one television for more than two hours at stretch.
