Alliances & Joint Ventures Nandan Agro in pact with D1 Oils to enter bio-diesel industry Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Aug. 10 THE Hyderabad-based Nandan Agro Farms Pvt. Ltd. has entered into a strategic alliance with UK-based D1 Oils for entering the bio-diesel industry. The joint effort of D1 Oils and Nandan Agro is to develop large scale nurseries, producing high yield bio-diesel Plants, processing, value added products from de-oiled cake like Nutraceuticals and bio-fertilisers. The company is all set to take up Jatropha cultivation in a big way. An agreement was signed on Tuesday by Mr Mark L.M. Quinn for D1 Oils Limited and Mr Bhaskar Rao, Managing Director of Nandan Agro here, according to a press release. D1 Oils Ltd, a world leader in bio-diesel technology has to its credit, several projects across the world. The alliance would help in an integrated effort for Jatropha cultivation processing and marketing. The company is initially targeting 2 lakh hectares for cultivation for feeding the proposed refineries that will be established by the Nandan-D1 Oils' venture, the release said. In view of the pro-active approach taken by the Andhra Pradesh Government for bio-diesel programme and Jatropha being suitable for dry land agriculture, the company is looking at the regional advantage of availability of large area for Jatropha cultivation.
