Free power to AP farmers

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy, said that 23 lakh families were being directly benefited by the State Government's decision to provide power free of cost to the agricultural sector.

Inaugurating a three-day national symposium on "Changing World Order - Cotton Research Development and Policy in Context" here on Tuesday, the Minister said the State Government was dedicated to the cause of farmers and would implement all the recommendations made by the symposium.

He said that efforts were being made by the Government to make AP "a spurious seeds free State". He wanted a substantial increase in the current area of 20-lakh acres under cotton cultivation in the State. The symposium was organised by Cotton Research and Development Association, Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) and Indian Seed Industry Association
