Announcements Hindustan Paper unit in Cachar still under flood waters Our Bureau
Kolkata , Aug. 11 THE villages near Naogaon and most areas around Hindustan Paper Corporation's mill at Cachar in are still under flood waters, resulting in disruption of production at the company's two paper mills in Assam, each with a capacity to produce more than 1,00,000 tonnes of writing and printing paper per annum. According to a press note issued by the company, seven young men (the sons of HPC employees working at the Naogaon mill), aged between 17 and 25 years, lost their lives on July 25 while on a relief mission to provide food to the flood-affected people in Ajori village near Amlighat, which is about 7 km away from the mill. At the village, employees distributed provisions to the marooned people. After doing so, the boat in which they were returning and which was carrying about 50 people capsized in the swirling flood waters.
