Airlines Air Deccan puts off Hyderabad-Delhi service to month-end K.V. Kurmanath
Hyderabad , Aug. 12 AIR Deccan, the low-cost air carrier, has put off the Hyderabad-Delhi sector service by two weeks. The service was originally planned to take off on August 13 as part of the carrier's plan to launch metro services. An Air Deccan executive told Business Line that a fresh date for the inaugural would be announced next week. "We will launch the service by the month-end," he said. He did not elaborate on the reason for the delay in the launch. The proposed service has generated a lot of interest among the people in the twin cities as the fare is put at just Rs 700. This, however, carries a rider. Also, the passengers must book a ticket 90 days in advance to avail themselves of the offer. The executive said the regular fare for the sector would be announced later. Air Deccan would operate the 180-seater Airbus A320 flight. The steep fall in fare on the sector is likely to trigger price cuts by other airlines operating on the route.
