The Hindu Business Line : BSNL announces new tariffs for landline users in AP

THE State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has announced five new tariff plans for its landline customers allowing them the flexibility to migrate as per their requirement. The new tariffs range from Rs 260 a month to Rs 2,250 a month and compliment the existing tariff plans.

Addressing a press conference here, the Principal General Manager of Hyderabad Telecom District, Mr C. Govardhan, said the new tariff structure is designed in such a way that a customer has the option to choose from one of the plans that fits his usage and requirements.

BSNL has provided the option plan forms at all customer service centres and telecom offices and department cash counters. New customers can opt for a plan of their choice along with the phone connection, he said.

While Plan 260 comes with a rental of Rs 260, it offers 160 phone calls free worth Rs 192, at a unit call rate of Rs 1.20. This effectively works out to Rs 68 per month. In the case of Plan 500, a subscriber is allowed 475 free calls, which works out to Rs 522 at a call rate of Rs 1.10 per call.

With regard to Plan 1000, a user gets 1050 calls worth Rs 1,050 at Rs 1 per call and with Plan 1500, a customer can make 1800 calls valued at Rs 1,620 at 90 paise a call. With regard to the highest call tariff Plan 2250, a user can make 2900 calls which works to effective price of Rs 2,610 at 90 paise a call.

The new plans are aimed at bringing in flexibility and also meet the changes made by some of the private operators.
