Our Bureau

New Delhi , Aug. 16

A SECTION of the cable industry will go on an indefinite strike from Tuesday to protest the hike in service tax and the inclusion of multi-system operators (MSOs) into the tax net.

"Cable operators will broadcast only four news channels of their choice and all other channels will be off the air from tomorrow," said Mr Jawahar Goel, Head of Siticable and President, All India Cable TV Forum. The group has written to the Finance Ministry on the issue. Cable operators in Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana would join the strike and talks are on with other operators to support the agitation.
