Software South leads in software exports Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug. 16 THE southern region led software exports, accounting for 58 per cent of the total export of computer software and services during 2003-04. "Although in absolute terms, the contribution of the Southern region has gone up as compared to the previous year, its percentage share to the total export from the country has come down marginally from 60 per cent last year to 58 per cent in 2003-04. This is indicative of increase in exports from other regions, though marginally," an Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) statement said. The share of Karnataka in the regional exports was 58 per cent in 2003-04, up from 54 per cent registered in the previous year, while Tamil Nadu occupied the second position at 24 per cent followed by Andhra Pradesh at 17 per cent.
