DR Reddy's Laboratories, ITW Signode and Shantha Biotech have bagged the CII-Sohrabji Green Business Centre's award for energy management.

Mr Anil Kumar Epur, former Chairman of CII (Southern Region) presented the `Awards for Energy Efficiency' to the representatives of the companies at a function organised at the CII-GBC at Madhapur here on Monday.

These awards were given under the Integrated Environmental Strategies (IES) Outreach Programme of the GBC.

The three companies were selected for the awards after evaluating case studies presented by 21 industries at a daylong seminar.

The award was open for companies situated in and around Hyderabad and with an energy bill of over Rs 15 lakh.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Anil Kumar said the IES partners were working to identify alternative transportation, industrial and household energy strategies that would have significant air quality, public health, economic and Green House Gas emission reduction impacts.

The overall energy savings by the 21 participants annually was Rs 4 crore, he said. "They could save Rs 60 lakh annually by investing an additional Rs 15 lakh," he added.
