TNAU to market `coconut tonic'

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU) will market the newly developed `coconut tonic' in southern districts from September, according to the TNAU Dean, Mr T.M. Thiyagarajan.

Speaking at Tirunelveli, he said, application of the tonic in coconut farms last year had encouraging results, with increase in the number of nuts per tree and nut size, besides mitigating pest attacks that damage the trees.

The tonic has a 30-day shelf life.

As the farmers in the southern districts could not get required quantity, the production and sale of the tonic from the Agricultural College and Research Institute at Killikulam is being arranged, he said.
