Farah Khan wants to make only `fun' films

Sudha Menon

Pune , Aug. 18

SHE has had almost every one from Bollywood's Big B - Amitabh Bachchan - to its badshah - Sharukh Khan - dancing to her tunes and has recently been in the news for her first directorial venture, Main Hoon Na.

And now, choreographer-turned-director Ms Farah Khan is all set to prove that it is not just the Khan males in the Hindi film industry (Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir and Saif) who can make a niche for themselves, a woman Khan can and will too.

"I am writing my second script just now and hope to start shooting by March 2005, provided I am able to finish the story by then," an upbeat Ms Khan told Business Line.

"As usual Shah Rukh will star in my movie and his company, Red Chillies Entertainment will produce it," Ms Khan said.

In the city to promote Sony Entertainment Television's `Indian Idol', for which she is one of the three judges, Ms Khan said making films is her new calling.

"I am cutting back on my choreography assignments and will only do that for friends. I had great fun directing Main Hoon Na, right from writing the story to post-production and what I want to do now is to focus on directing more films. Red Chillies Entertainment is committed to making at least one `fun' film every year and I will work towards that target," Ms Khan said.

"I believe completely in making movies that will make the audience feel good. We, in India, have too many problems with our basic living and I truly believe that when a rickshaw driver goes with his family to watch a film, he does not want to see more misery. He wants to escape for a couple of hours into the world of make-believe and that is exactly the kind of films I want to make."
