P&O Ports gets BS certification

P&O Ports, which operates the three container terminals at Jawaharlal Nehru, Chennai and Mundra ports, has received the globally recognised security standard, the British Standard 7799.

P&O Ports, which operates a string of 27 container terminals and provides logistics services in over 100 ports across the globe, handled 11.3 million TEUs in 2003 worldwide, out of which 1.7 million TEUs was generated in India.

Capt. Jimmy Sarbh, Chairman and Managing Director of the container terminals run by P&O Ports in South Asia and Middle East, said: "Over the years, the company has upgraded its technology framework continuously, which brought convenience to our customers and other stakeholders."
