Mumbai , Aug. 19

AFTER the success of the International Gems & Jewellery Exhibition 2003, Avon Weighing Systems Ltd has decided to try it again. This year, the Gems & Jewellery Exhibition is scheduled from September 3-6 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NSE Estate) in Mumbai.

The objective of the exhibition is to bring under one roof manufacturers, traders and designers in the various segments of the jewellery industry such as gold, diamonds, white gold, silver, coloured stones, rough and polished diamonds, pearls, designer watches, software related to jewellery, jewellery tools and machinery.

The exhibition, which is open to trade and industry as well as the general public, will offer over 120 exclusive brands. The show will not only be an opportunity to view a range of jewellery but also a chance to get updates on advances in technology through informative seminars. These talks, to be conduced by eminent personalities from the gems and jewellery industry, will focus on a range of themes such as design, export management, technology and gemmology.

According to Mr Pankaj Saraiya, Director, Avon Weighing Systems Ltd, "The domestic requirement of the Indian jewellery market is more than Rs 10,000 crore and is growing at the rate of 10 to 15 per cent each year. The gems and jewellery exports shoot up by 24 per cent in 2003-04 amounting to Rs 54,919 crore. An exhibition like this will cater to the growing demand and is an ideal platform to showcase Indian designs to the domestic as well as international markets."

With 200 stalls spread over 4,000 sq. mt., the exhibition is drawing participants from various parts of India and abroad, including UAE, Burma, Japan and Germany.
