Bangalore , Aug. 19 HEWLETT Packard announced on Thursday that it would be aggressively working towards driving and expanding the colour business printing market in India. Announcing a new product portfolio for enterprises, professionals and the small and medium businesses, Mr Vibhor Bansal, country category manager, Colour Laser and Business Inkjets, HP India, said that the company was focussed on making colour printers more affordable. This new strategy is expected to bridge the gap between mono and colour printing, thus driving and expanding the market from mono to colour, Mr Bansal said. HP India has declared 2004 as the year of digital colour. The company, which claims a 90 per cent-plus share of the colour laser segment in the country, expects to sustain its market share with the launch of several new products. IDC estimates the current colour printing market at around Rs 50 crore and is expected to grow to Rs 100 crore by 2007. HP India feels that the industry analysts' estimates might turn out to be conservative as the company expects a significantly higher growth than anticipated, Mr Bansal added. The company announced the launch of "first most affordable" colour laser printer, the HP Color LaserJet 2550, at a price tag of Rs 34,999. It is also launching a new range of attractively priced business inkjets, targeted at the corporates, he said. The company had recently launched a wireless mobile printer, equipped with Bluetooth capabilities.
