Tea Kochi teas spurt on good demand Our Bureau
Kochi , Aug. 22 A GOOD general demand resulted in the spurting of prices of almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the quantity of 9,44,000 kg on offer in the dust category, CTC market barely steady to irregularly easier. Orthodox steady and tended to ease. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 52 and Rs 70, medium CTC realised Rs 46-50 and poorer type were quoted Rs 36-43. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 80 and Rs 102, while medium BOPD quoted Rs 40-43. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 31-35. In the leaf, Orthodox mediums, highgrown brokens and fannings were fully firm to dearer by Rs 1-2 following quality. CTC well-made teas fully firm to dearer, while others were selling around last levels. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 65 and Rs 80, medium Orthodox realised Rs 55-72. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 57 and Rs 62, while medium CTC leaf realised Rs 50-56. In the dust category, Kodanaad BOPD-CL realised the best prices of Rs 102 followed by Parkside BOPD-CL by Rs 80. In the leaf varieties, Lockhart IGFOP fetched the best prices of Rs 95 followed by Chamraj OP by Rs 93-94.
