APTDC plans to construct modern convention centre

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Aug. 22

THE Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is planning to construct a modern convention centre in the city.

MARCH, a city-based marketing consultancy research company, is doing a feasibility report for the project.

Premavati, part of the twin memorials erected in the 17th century by Abdullah Qutb Shah, could be a probable location for the centre.

Last year, the then Tourism Minister, Mr Talasani Srinivasa Yadav, had announced plans to develop the Premavati monument along with the Taramati Baradari.

The corporation developed the latter site at a cost of Rs 6 crore and opened the same for events and parties last year.

The overall plan was to develop a 13-acre plot surrounding Premavati monument as a culture village.

According to Mr L.K. Kishore of MARCH, the proposed Deccani Convention Centre is likely to be taken up at a cost of Rs 40 crore.

The feasibility report would be ready in a month.

The company recently submitted master plans for APTDC to tap the tourism potential in the Konaseema and Kurnool regions.
