KSINC to outsource marketing of cruises

Our Bureau

Kochi , Aug. 25

THE Kerala Shipping Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC), prior to the introduction of Sagara Rani for backwater cruising, has invited expressions of interest from private parties for the marketing of various cruise packages.

KSINC is planning to outsource the job to individuals or firms who are in the hospitality business to effectively market the packages of the re-designed vessel, which is proposed to be launched on the Thiruvonam day on Saturday in the Kochi backwaters.

The marketing of the cruise vessel includes establishing outlets with prospective tour operators and leading hotel groups in India and abroad. All the hospitality services inside and outside the vessel, catering and housekeeping matters should be attended by the party, KSINC officials said.

The Corporation, as part of entering the tourism field, has re-designed the vessel with an exquisite air-conditioned conference hall, DJ Floor, restaurant. It had invested around Rs 2 crore for renovation works so as to make the vessel seaworthy. The objective is to explore the vast potential of backwater tourism as KSINC had recently embarked on tourism related activities linking waterways.

The ship with a 60-passenger capacity will provide facilities for conducting on board events, conferences with facilities like DJ floor, restaurants etc. The variety of cruises that are designed included breakfast cruise, lunch cruise, sunset and dinner cruise. On all cruises, food will be provided on board. There are also plans to include a late night cruise with onboard events, food etc.
