Pune , Aug. 25

PUNE-based Accord Filters Pvt Ltd said here on Wednesday that it is close to entering into a supply arrangement with Korean kitchen appliances manufacturer Donyong.

Accord Filters, a player in the domestic `point of use' water purifier industry, is likely tomanufacture a range of water purifying systems to Dongyong.

The Rs 22-crore Indian company has acquired land near Pune, where it plans to offer manufacturing and supply services to global players, who find manufacturing at their home base expensive.

Mr Vidhyadhar Sarfare, Chairman and Managing Director, said the company, which currently manufactures 2000 units/month, will increase production to 6000 units/month in three months. The Korean deal is expected to be finalised by then.

Accord Filters also plans to bring in the Korean firm's range of kitchen appliances such as rice cookers, kitchen chimneys and coffee makers to India.

"We hope to take our turnover to the level of Rs 100 crore in the next three years," said Mr Sarfare.

Meanwhile, the company is also pursuing other `original equipment manufacturer' contracts with water purifier brand owners around the world.

The company has drawn an outlay of Rs 10 crore for the new manufacturing facility at the Hinjewadi Industrial Zone, Pune. The company on Wednesday launched AstonikTM, a water purifier based on micro-water film technology.Mr Sarfare said AstonikTM, which has a micro-processor controlled high intensity 16 watt UV lamp, will eliminate and inactivate bacteria and viruses.

"We are introducing this advanced technology for the first time in India and it ensures a low extinction coefficient, which is important for effective water treatment," he said.
