Tiruchi small sector's plea

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: The Tiruchi District Tiny and Small-Scale Industries Association (TIDITSSIA) has urged the Tamil Nadu Government to provide exemption for the sector from the commercial tax for the sales turn over to the tune of Rs 1 crore on the lines provided for the sector from the excise duty.

In a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, the association has pleaded for the nomination of the president of the SSI bodies in the respective districts as members of district panchayats.

In the areas identified as `industrial zones', the Government should not accord permission for the construction of residential complexes.

Further, steps should be taken to accord sanction and approval of plan layout for new industries within a month. The local bodies should declare in advance the areas selected for industrial classification, the association has said.
