THE Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Om Prakash Chautala, was pleased withthe act of the Supreme Court dismissing the review petition filed by Punjab regarding the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal imbroglio.

He said that it was now the Union Government's responsibility to complete the construction of the canal in the Punjab territory at the earliest.

Addressing a meeting of industrialists in Bhiwani, Mr Chautala said that nothing could now prevent the SYL canal from becoming functional. The apex court's dismissal of Punjab plea is a big relief to the people of Haryana, he said.
