NPPA notifies norms for packing material costs

THE National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has notified the norms for packing material cost for medicines in strips, tubes and bottles. The costs vary depending on the shape, size, number of tablets and the packing material.

The NPPA has also differentiated the packing material on the basis of size and thickness of strips, tubes and bottles.

The cost of packing tablets in aluminium strips vary from Rs 0.29 to Rs 0.96 for a pack of ten, according to an official release.

In case of tablets and capsules packed in plastic bottles without carton, the cost ranges between Rs 1.93 to Rs 3.03 per pack depending on the weight of tablets and the capsule size.
