Mumbai , Aug. 26

LAKME Lever is looking at importing more products for the domestic market.

The company's vice president, Mr Anil Chopra, said at a press conference: "The import duties have been going down and instead of having a new manufacturing base, we want to bring in more products to cater to the evolving consumers who are going global.''

The company is not considering entering any new category and instead wants to extend the existing range in colour cosmetics and skincare products. It is also expanding the franchisee-owned salons and claims that the business has been growing faster at 50 per cent.

Lakme Lever, a division of HLL, embarked upon the franchisee model for its beauty salons three years ago. Today it intends having 65 franchisee-owned salons across the country.

Besides, the company has also teamed up with designer Tarun Tahiliani to bring out a new collection `Fireworks'. The range will be showcased at the Lakme Grand Finale Winter 2004 show to be held here later.
