Thomas Cook Q3 net up at Rs 7.5 cr

THOMAS Cook (India) Ltd has posted a higher profit after tax of Rs 7.5 crore for the third quarter ended July 31 from Rs 6.16 crore posted in the corresponding previous period.Revenue stood at Rs 34.8 crore during the third quarter, a 27 per cent increase over the previous period.

Profit after tax for the nine months ended July 31 stood at Rs 20 crore, up 34 per cent.

An official statement quoting the CEO and Managing Director, Mr Ashwini Kakkar, said: "After the September 11 incident, this is the first year that has been steady and the travel and tourism industry saw positive growth across all its segments. We have done well in our businesses and achieved the desired targets."

In the leisure travel business, the company witnessed about 70 per cent growth over last year. The company hopes to expand its inbound market through new markets such as adventure and ecotourism and participation in international trade fairs.
