Pergo sets up design centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad , Aug. 26

LAMINATED wooden flooring manufacturer PERGO, a $3-billion Swedish major, is bullish on the Indian market and has announced the launch of its exclusive `design centre' in Hyderabad.

The centre will help potential customers visualise how their place will look before they go in for a particular product and the related colour co-ordinate.

The Chief Executive Officer of Pergo in India, Mr K.R. Shivshankar, said that the company, headquartered in Trelleborg and with manufacturing facilities in several locations in Sweden, is one of the world's largest in that segment.

The Pergo range of completely recyclable flooring, introduced in Europe in the '80s, was launched in India in 1998. So far, about 5 million sq. ft. has been installed for both domestic and commercial office use.

"We have slowly and steadily built up a strong market for this flooring and unlike others, the entire installation is managed by the Pergo team. This ensures both quality as also long-term association with the user," said Mr Shivshankar.

The Hyderabad design centre is the company's third in India, after Mumbai and Delhi. Mr Shivshankar said customers can log on to the Pergo e-showroom, which is supported by the company's proprietary software.
