GoM to screen PSE reforms in AP

A GROUP of ministers (GoM) headed by the State Finance Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, will replace the Cabinet sub-committee constituted to monitor the progress of public enterprise reform process in the State.
The first meeting of the newly constituted GoM on `State Level Public Enterprises (SLPEs) including co-operative institutions' is expected to be held early next month to consider the proposals relating to reforms in respect of the public enterprises included in public enterprise reforms programme.
The other members of the GoM are Major Industries Minister, Mr B. Satyanarayana, the Co-operation Minister, Mr K. Lakshminarayana and the Tourism and Sugar Minister, Ms J. Geeta Reddy, according to a press release from the Implementation Secretariat.
The GoM, which was constituted in the place of the Cabinet Sub-Committee that was in existence in the previous government, will be dealing with the remaining 35 public enterprises included in the Phase I and Phase II Action Plan of the PE Reforms Programme and take a final decision on each of these enterprises.
So far, reforms have been completed in respect of 55 enterprises out of which 22 units have been closed and 12 units privatised. Another 12 units were restructured and disinvestment carried out in 9 enterprises, the release said.
