Oracle-HP centre creates e-governance prototypes

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad , Aug. 27

ORACLE-HP e-governance centre of excellence has developed a few replicable eGovernance projects covering financial services, composite citizen services centres and data centres for diverse Government applications and farmer data hubs.

The Senior Director, Government, Education & Health, Oracle India, Mr S.P.S. Grover, replying to Business Line queries, said, "India can use Oracle's Customer Data Hub and the Grid Computing-based Oracle 10g Infrastructure Software, to build composite Citizen or Farmer Data Hubs. These Citizen or Farmer Data Hubs can give governments a central repository of all citizen and farmer information making governance and security administration a more manageable task."

In areas such as bringing about fiscal prudence and financial discipline, Mr Grover said information technology systems could play a vital role. "Some innovative concepts Oracle is currently working on at the eGovernance Centre of Excellence with Governments in India are in the areas of integrated financial management, integrated land management and Citizen and Farmer Data Hubs," he explained.

"Oracle's single data model, can ensure real-time updation of data giving the Government agencies complete visibility into the Government's financial status at any give point in time," he said.

Oracle-HP e-Governance centre of Excellence, launched in 2003, has emerged as a unique platform to showcase the best of e-governance projects from around the world. The centre has seen convergence of thought and expertise from every sphere of e-governance - Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, NIC, IIIT-Bangalore, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sify, Red Hat and others — opening up new creative promising e-governance concepts and prototypes.
