BindView sets up second facility in Pune

PUNE seems to be the happening place with IT companies ramping up their operations. This includes BindView India Pvt Ltd, the 100-per cent export oriented Indian subsidiary of the Houston-based BindView Corporation, which has just inaugurated its second facility in Pune.

Talking to presspersons, Mr Arshad Martin, Executive Vice-President of Product and Technology Operations, said the Pune facility, which started its operations with 60 employees in 1999 has now touched 135. The company has provisions for ramping up this strength to 300.

He noted that Pune is its biggest development centre with 135 developers followed by its Houston centre, which caters to about 85. Globally, the company has a workforce of 540, which takes care of the service and maintenance aspects, he said.

"We are augmenting our Indian operations and expect to increase the headcount to approximately 200 within the next year and we would be looking at the figure of 300 in some time." Mr Martin said the company is also bringing into India its racer team, which is currently in operation in the US. The team at present has strength of about five personnel, experts in the security area and is planning to globally ramp this up to eight . He said one person is already on the board from India and another person would be joining soon. "What this team does is original research on the vulnerability in the existing security system and close all the loopholes before it affects the customer business,'' he pointed out. This team, currently in the US, does work for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) and even the US Department of Defence. As part of its recruitment, the company is also doing its rounds with the management students and plans to recruit about five to take care of its business development in India as also to complement the business capabilities in the US, he said. BindView is into proactive security management software solutions for policy compliance, vulnerability management and directory administration. With more than 20 million licences sold, it has about 5,000 customers spanning business segments and public sector.
