Edible oil imports

This has reference to the article "Are port curbs on edible oil imports desirable" by G. Chandrashekar (Business Line, August 27). The article is candid in expressing a fair and unbiased view, and I am sure most players in the edible oil industry also feel the same. The findings and analysis of the story (of grave concern) reflect pragmatism and have a solid basis in statistics and numbers.

I hope the article reaches the corridors of power and that it is read with seriousness and that the required damage control measures are adopted/implemented in the right earnest.
