`Huge export scope for ALHs'

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Union Minister for Defence, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, has said that there was a huge export potential for the indigenously manufactured Advanced Light Helicopters (ALHs).

The Minister, who was here as an observer to oversee the election process of the new leader of the Congress Legislature Party, had visited the headquarters of the Southern Air Command (SAC) here.

The ALHs were already being inducted into the Indian Air Force , Mr Mukherjee said. He later proceeded to take a familiarisation sortie on one of the ALHs, and said its manoeuvrability, speed and automation, including the avionics, were praiseworthy. "They will meet not just our domestic requirements, but will take care of the export potential as well," he added.
